SIMOWOOD made of Resysta®
Versatility in boatbuilding
A sustainable material that looks and feels like wood, has the same versatility as wood in terms of processing and is pliable as plastic - the essential features of SIMOWOOD made of Resysta®. SIMOWOOD is the first large-scale sheet made of Resysta®, an innovative hybrid material based on rice husks and a specific type of thermoplastic.
In contrast to conventional wood or wood-based products, the material used in SIMOWOOD is resistant to moisture, i.e. there are no signs of swelling. Furthermore, it is weather-resistant and offers the benefit of anti-slip properties when wet (highest level of slip resistance, category C as per DIN 51097). This makes SIMOWOOD the perfect material for a wide range of applications in the boatbuilding industry - offering plenty of scope for creative design.
Alongside a standard sheet, SIMONA offers a low-flammability product - in thicknesses from 4 to 8 mm - that complies with the regulations of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). SIMOWOOD IMO therefore fulfils the requirements for use as a material in bulkheads, walls, ceilings, linings and flooring within the commercial shipbuilding industry.
- Moisture-resistant, no swelling
- Highest anti-slip rating (category C under DIN 51097)
- Fine wood appearance and haptics
- Processing capabilities similar to wood and plastic
- No splintering
- Resistant to fungal growth and termites
